[Listen Notes] Upgraded to Postgres 17 (from 16) and Ubuntu 24.04 (from 22.04)
We consistently leverage the latest advancements in open-source infrastructure software to enhance performance, security, and functionality.
Recently, we undertook two significant upgrades:
1) Postgres Upgrade: We upgraded our primary datastore, Postgres, from version 16 to 17, crossing a major version boundary.
2) Operating System Upgrade: All our servers transitioned from Ubuntu 22.04 to the latest 24.04 release.
Upgrading Postgres across major versions can be complex. Over the years, we've developed a robust and practical methodology for achieving these upgrades with minimal disruption. Our approach enables us to maintain near-zero downtime—typically less than a minute. If you're curious about how we do it, check out our blog post: A Practical Way to Upgrade Postgres Major Versions with Near-Zero Downtime.
Just like a great chef selects the finest ingredients, we’re committed to using the best tools and technologies to serve our customers.
